Commercial radar surveillance

Radar surveillance on the commercial field is gaining momentum thanks to platforms like SharpView that can support multiple camera and radar brands and new cost effective radars like Buavi’s MIRAD radar range or the Axis D2050-VE.

How does it work?

Using a MIRAD-300 solid state radar with 90º of horizontal FOV and 13º vertical FOV we can detect people up to ~ 350 m and vehicles at up to ~ 500 m

The radar and the cameras are geo-referenced. Radar detections are positioned in the map providing latitude and longitude to the system.

Once the threats are located, a Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) camera is directed to verify the detection fully automated.

Then, to reduce the rate of false alarms, the PTZ camera verifies the detection using advanced video analysis to classify people or vehicles.

In the event of getting more detections than PTZ cameras, the system alternates between threats to register the best possible evidence.
